Vital Surgery for Dmytro, UA

Hello, I'm Yulia, a single mom of two boys, and I kindly ask for your help. My family lives in Cherkasy Region, Ukraine (110miles south of Kyiv). My younger son Dmytro was diagnosed with arthrogryposis at birth. It is a rare disease that causes muscle contractures and deformation of the bones and joints, which leads to stiff and malformed fingers, asymmetric chest, wrists and joints becoming permanently fixed in a bent position, and both legs developing clubfoot. My son spent his first year with his legs encased in plaster, and started walking when he turned two. Dmytro undergoes a surgical intervention every half a year, which is the only way to alleviate his degenerative condition, as there is no cure for his disease. I'm attaching our family archive photos, as well as Dmytro's certificate of physical disability and his diagnosis (both in Ukrainian).

Each surgery costs around 10 000 USD (equivalent of 41 500 Polish Zloty) in Ukraine. In order to earn the needed amount, I work as a housecleaner in Poland for half a year without seeing my boys. We planned Dmytro's next operation for March this year, but after the break of war which is devastating my country, it's impossible to plan surgery and  ensure a safe recovery period for my boy at home.  This time I'm forced to take Dmytro from the war zone and seek medical help in Poland, where the costs are higher. Timely surgery is vital, and lack of medical care may result in excruciating pain when my boy's bones stop growing, and he may be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. I've been fighting for Dmytro's better life comfort since he was born. No matter the difficulties I had to overcome, I've never allowed myself to give up, as he has no one else to count on.
