Ride for Refugees

I WHAT: 

On 2nd September (which happens to be Independence Day in Vietnam) I will begin my journey through the stunning landscapes of northern Vietnam. Now here comes the challenging part - I'll be travelling by motorbike, which I still have to buy, learn to drive, and teach myself to repair it en-route!  I will be raising money for  A Drop In The Ocean (you can read more about the Organization, it's work and volunteering possibilities here-> https://www.drapenihavet.no/), a Norwegian humanitarian aid organisation that helps refugees upon their arrival in Europe.  Having been one of the “drops”, I’ve seen the charity's hard work, as well as the hardships and challenges that refugees face everyday. 

II WHY: 

The aim of this fundraising event is to express solidarity and provide support to those who are forced to flee from their countries in the hope of living a normal, peaceful life, far away from the atrocities that they have experienced. By extending a helping hand, we can show them that they are not alone and that the world has not turned its back on them.  We often don’t know or meet refugees and therefore tend to be afraid of them, but we forget that they are equally afraid of us. Sending them a welcoming signal is comforting and needed. You may think that your small gesture is of no importance and will not change anything, but believe me, it’s A LOT. Every drop counts!  Thanks to your help, somebody may get a new pair of shoes, a new winter coat or, most importantly, the feeling of relief that comes with knowing there is someone to support them. Refugees, like all of us, deserve dignity and safety.  By supporting and donating via this page

It was only by luck that we were not born in a war-torn country but, as nothing lasts forever, we should not remain indifferent to the suffering of others.
