Boart Longyear
On February 24, 2022, Russian troops invaded the territory of Ukraine, which is Poland's neighbor. Since that day, over 2.5 million refugees fleeing the hostilities have arrived in Poland. They are mainly women with children and elderly people who require constant care.
All these people need material support, because very often they fled their country with documents or a bag only and the most necessary things. Some refugees continue to move to European countries, but the vast majority remain within Poland in order to be able to return to their homes as soon as possible, whenever the situation in Ukraine allows it.
From the very beginning, the Boart Longyear Poland (BLP) team helps actively - each one individually according to their abilities and through cooperation with foundations, including: Krzyzowa Foundation (https://twitter.com/Krzyzowa/status/1505866223283748866) which welcomed about 100 refugees, and the Kamionna Lesniczowka Foundation, which welcomed about 20 people.
Some employees offered accommodation to families from Ukraine on their own initiative, or otherwise supported individual persons and initiatives.
Boart Longyear group decided to create a specific fund that could be utilized by the team in Poland to implement different initiatives locally.
BLP supported the Krzyzowa Foundation by donating two refrigerators and school equipment for 50 children and young people under the foundation's care.
BLP supported the Kamionna Lesniczowka Foundation by purchasing a heater and equipment necessary to run two bathrooms. We also provided the necessary clothing and footwear for the refugees living there.
Both foundations help refugees with accommodation, meals, and the most necessary material things, as well as support children and youth in admission to Polish kindergartens and schools.
The Polish team provides voluntary assistance at the Main Railway Station in Wroclaw and at the Center for Catastrophes and Natural Disasters – TRATWA.
Some of us also took an active part in cleaning and supporting works in Wrocław at the Refugee Center (Przystanek Grochowa).
The team also joined the "Sandwich" campaign for refugees living in the Sports and Recreation Center in Katy Wrocławskie, as well as in providing the most-needed food products and personal hygiene items on an ongoing basis.
A collection of shoes and clothes as well as purchased food products for refugees was organized in the Youth Hostel in Legnica.
This year, the wonderful female part of BLP decided to donate their gifts on the occasion of Women's Day to women from Ukraine who are hosted by local foundations.
Another incentive is help of Ukrainian citizens who remained in Ukraine despite the ongoing war. We have purchased first aid kits, sleeping bags, mats, tents, flashlights, and tourniquets, which will be delivered to the areas affected by hostilities.
We thank all the BLY employees across the globe for their contributions to the BLY employees fund created on the pomagam platform.
